Förlagets beskrivning
The availability of climate-friendly technologies is a determining factor in our efforts to limit greenhouse gas emissions from energy. The purpose of this workshop was to improve understanding of the assumptions about energy technology used in energy models. When will new or improved energy technologies become available and how quickly will they be deployed? Energy models play an important role in helping policy-makers set emissions targets and making energy models more transparent helps ensure that climate policies are realistic, achievable and cost-effective. This workshop, held in Paris on 16 June 1997, and sponsored by the IEA's Committee on Energy Research and Technology, included among its participants experts on several of the key models being used by IEA Member countries and the European Commission to assess and analyse national responses to climate change. The Workshop provided an overview of the assumptions used and discussed the differences in approaches and assumptions used in energy models
