Förlagets beskrivning
This book provides a legally proven violation of fundamental human rights committed by the regime in Eritrea.
The book is arranged in a very simple order. In the first chapter, the events that happened in the year 2001 are summarised in brief. The second chapter covers the protest of Asmara University students. The third, the banning of the entire private press, and the arrest of the journalists.
Then the interesting and self-evident letters exchanged between the parties during the legal communication with the African Commission, and the final ruling rendered.
This is followed by the desperate reaction of the regime in a statement released in protest to the ruling and followed by our comments to the response of the regime's letter. As an example of the diplomatic effects of the ruling, the book includes the Resolution adopted unanimously by the Inter-Parliamentary Union Governing Council at its 174th session (Mexico City, 23 April 2004) one month after the ruling.
