Förlagets beskrivning
The main purpose of this book is to contribute to the demystification of information technology. This is done by focusing on the relationship between computerized information systems and their users. The analysis is based on three different perspectives on this relationship: systems-theoretical, sociotechnical and humanistic. The perspectives have also chronologically emerged in this order. This development reflects the increased attention that recently has been paid to people as users of information technology.
The perspective determines to a great extent the principles of using computers. Different perspectives produce clear differences in the notions of knowledge, human being, human acts, communication, organization and systems development. The author does not, however, challenge the reader to make the choice between the perspectives. Even if his heart certainly is on the side of human beings rather than of the computer, he is arguing that all perspectives are necessary, needing the existence and supporting the strength of each other.
