Förlagets beskrivning
Pebbles on the Beach is a very personal and moving book. It focuses on many aspects of depression faced by one individual's struggle, thus filling the gap left by other books on this subject which tend to concentrate heavily on medical jargon. The book is aimed largely at people going through depression and also those who are living with or know of someone who is suffering. Pebbles on the Beach addresses the strong and emotional feelings experienced in heart-rending detail. The author, Emma Higgins, shares her innermost thoughts and fears in a collection of touching and powerful poems and diary entries. She details her constant battle with this often misunderstood illness. Emma Higgins chose to write this book for three main reasons: 'so I could finally express to people exactly how I was feeling inside', 'because when I was looking for a book to help me in some way I could never find anything other than medical books which didn't seem to aid me, I felt it needed someone who had actually suffered from depression to share their experience' and finally 'I wanted to try and open people's eyes and give them a better understanding of this illness'
