Förlagets beskrivning
As one reviewer wrote, "Whether you are drawn to the love story, the history, or the drama of war, you are immersed in a world of rich characters and vivid settings that operate on multiple levels." Another reviewer observed, "Through creative writing and vivid imagery, the reader is transported to the past to experience the tragedies and triumphs experienced by fellow humans (during) WWII. This is a beautiful story." 'Fumiko' is a powerful story that cannot function within the limitations of a single genre' because it examines so much of the human condition during a tyrannical time that declared war on the natural rights of all mankind. The characters that inhabit the story, both American and Japanese, are impossible to forget because they possess a wonderful human quality that makes them achingly real and eminently memorable. These are people you will not be able to just walk away from because they will have found their way into your deepest feelings and established a niche in your memory. The reader will appreciate having known every member of the Dreiser and Nishida families, where everyone's individual story is inseparable from the aggregate story of conflict and courage, families and culture, love and understanding and about making right a world gone horribly wrong. The framework of the story itself is unique, giving the reader illuminating parallel views of life within an American and Japanese home before, during and after WWII. From the beginning this story was persistent in the selection of its essential self. It started out as a family saga titled, 'The Dreisers'. Then, when the Japanese perspective of the war demanded to be heard; after all - it was their war too, it became 'Franklin and Fumiko.' However, when the preeminence of Fumiko became indisputable, it was rewritten for the third time
