Excerpt from In Around the Grand Canyon: The Grand Canyon of the Colorado River in Arizona
Since this book was written and published in 1900 it has been reprinted a number of times and several thousands of copies have been sold. Although the author issued in 1910 an entirely new book on the same - "The Grand Canyon of Arizona" - there is still a steady and constant demand for this larger and earlier work. It has been deemed appropriate, however, before issuing a new edition, that part of one chapter should be entirely rewritten, and an appendix added, which will contain much new and important information. A new map has also been provided which the tourist or general reader will find of material help. The reasons for these enlargements and additions are found in the many and varied changes that have taken place in the Grand Canyon; not in the Canyon itself, but in the hotel accommodations, trails, etc.
