The National Coalition for Pro-ILBERMAN moting Physical Activity is a coalition of major health, fitness, and recreation organizations working to advance policies and programs that encourage physical activity. NCPPA was created in response to the 1996 Surgeon General re-port on physical activity and health. The American College of Sports Medicine, the American Heart Association, and the Amer-ican Alliance for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, and Dance, convened the coalition as a way to advocate and educate Americans on the importance of regular physical activity. NCPPA has since grown to include a broad cross-section of na-tional and local organizations, including Federal Agencies, cor-porate partners, trade and professional associations, and national charitable organizations. Our members are as diverse as the International Health, Rac-quet, and Sports Club Association, the American Cancer Society
