Did you visit there often? A: Not a lot, often enough. I had my family out here and we had our life. We went to parties there. Q: I heard that Pancho used to have parties for milestone flights. A: Yes, we would go to those. First flights. Pancho provided the facility and the parties were usually paid for by the contractors. Q: I have also heard that when Yeager broke the sound barrier [ on October 14, 1947 ], NACA and some military personnel wanted to have a party out there and that was squelched because people of higher authority wanted to keep it quiet.
