Introduction, History. Better Eyesight Without Glasses is a Revised 1943 Edition of Dr. Bates' original book; Perfect Sight Without Glasses (The Cure of Imperfect Sight By Treatment Without Glasses). It is Public Domain. First Published in Year 1919-1920. This Revised Edition is a smaller book teaching Dr. Bates' Main Practices for Clear Eyesight. Easy to read, a quick way to learn Dr. Bates' Method. Photocopied, preserved in the antique print with the green book cover edges kept around the pages to show its history, authenticity. Dr. Bates' Books, Magazine, Eyecharts, Cards, Letters and other items are preserved by Natural Eyesight Improvement Teacher, Author Clark Night. I added some to this book; 2 Extra Chapters from Dr. Bates' Original 1919-1920-1940 Editions, Antique Pages from his monthly Better Eyesight Magazine, Newspapers, Close and Far C, E Eyecharts with Directions. Three Charts are copies of Original Antique Test Cards created by Dr. Bates and used by him and his Assistant, wife Emily C. Lierman, A. Bates in his New York City offices and clinic.Natural Eyesight (Vision) Improvement 'The Bates Method'. The true function of the eyes, visual system. Taught directly from Dr. William Horatio Bates, M. D., the Ophthalmologist that discovered, practiced it in the 1800s-1931. He applied natural methods, relaxation (without use of eyeglasses, surgery, drugs) to return the mind-body-eyes-eye muscles to normal function with healthy eyes and clear eyesight. Dr. Bates' Method has cured; unclear close and far eyesight, astigmatism, conical cornea, cornea scars, detached retina, crossed/wandering eyes, cataracts, glaucoma, floating specks and many other eye problems. Natural Eyesight Improvement was practiced years before Dr. Bates discovered it. It is the normal, natural function of the eyes. Many Native People use it instinctively and have perfect sight. Dr. Bates' book, magazine, method were hidden from the public by many eye doctors for over 100 years, because his method works, is easy and anyone (including children) can learn, teach it. It frees the patient from the need to purchase eyeglasses, eye surgery and drugs. The Main Treatment to obtain clear eyesight is; Shifting and Relaxation. This is How to Shift; when you look at something; shift on it part to part. Look at a small part, then move (shift) from that small part to another small part, then to another small part, another... Blink and Relax. You are imitating, inducing natural function of the eyes, eyesight, visual system. Other Main Practices are; Central Fixation, Shifting and Seeing the Opposite Swing, Blinking, Looking Close-Far (Switching) with Shifting, Improving the Memory and Imagination, Sunlight Treatment, Reading-Seeing Fine and Microscopic Print Clear, Correct Breathing, Movements...Dr. Bates worked throughout his life treating people successfully with Natural Eyesight Improvement. When he cured the eyes, vision of many patients and other doctors in the hospital where he worked using natural treatments and proved his method is fact and that some of the old theories of eye function are incorrect; the doctor/surgeon in charge of the hospital (who preferred to sell eyeglasses, surgery and drugs) expelled him. Dr. Bates worked at other places and in his own office and Harlem Clinic, New York City. He treated thousands of people by natural methods. He kept his price for treatment low and gave free help to people that could not afford to pay for a visit to an Ophthalmologist. His treatments were successful. He cured the young and old, people of all ages. Dr. Bates' Method is simple and effective.
