Förlagets beskrivning
Excerpt from Bibliotheca Indica; Collection of Oriental Works Published Under the Patronage of the Hon. Court of Directors of the East India Company, and the Superintendence of the Asiatic Society of Bengal, Vol. 15: Nos; 41 and 50; The Taittaríya, Aitaréya, Svétásvatara, Kéna, Ísá, Ka ha, Prasna, Mu aka and Má akya Upanishads The first Valli endeavours to answer the first question. Its views are brie y as follow:-it is generally thought that knowledge of the Védas leads to supreme happiness but the happiness, which is derived from such a knowledge, and from the performance of the rites enjoined by the Védas, viz., the enjoyment of heavenly bliss, is transient, and does not satisfy the mind of man, who is desirous of a happiness wherein there is no change. This, happiness is possible only under the condition, that the soul itself attains to an unchangeable state, and hence the ques. Tion arises, whether after death there is an existence of the soul.
