Förlagets beskrivning
This text provides an eloquent overview of the factual, moral, and legal dimensions of global energy justice. The first segment, which examines the jurisprudential lineages of justice and law within Western, Islamic, Buddhist and Confucian traditions, maintains that law can and should offer answers to global problems of energy and poverty. The second segment explores energy poverty among the "other third" of the world, consisting of 1.3 to 2.5 billion peoples. It explains how the lack of access to basic clean and affordable energy results in the premature deaths of millions, primarily among women and children, and afflicts millions more through sickness and ill health. The third and fourth segments elucidate the importance of energy justice, within the internationally accepted foundational legal norm of sustainable development. Finally, the book concludes with examples of national model laws, and explores how they offer blueprints for promoting global energy justice
