Rev. F. R. Gallaher, D. D., was the son of Rev. James Gallaher and Mrs. Lucinda (houston) Gal r laher. His father was of scotch-irish extraction, whose early education was chie?y in the Word of God. This developed in him a great wealth of thought, imagination, and emotion. He was a man of abundant vital force, greatly in earnest in the ministry, deeply versed in Scripture knowledge. Hence Dr. Ross of Huntsville, Ala bama, has justly said of him: Take him all in all, he was one of the most instructive and im~ pressive preachers the West has ever produc ed.
The mother, Mrs. Lucinda Gallaher, was a cousin of General Samuel Houston of Texas. She was a devoted Christian wife and mother, impressing herself deeply and favorably upon her family, and the wide circle of friends with which she was connected.
