The inspiration for this project comes from the author's previous book, As
Hogan Said...The 389 Best Things Ever Said About How to Play Golf. Published in
November of 2000, As Hogan Said has sold more than 30,000 copies to date. In
seeking to pull together the thoughts and wisdom contained in that book,
Voorhees drew inspiration from Robert Byrne's classic compilation, The 637 Best
Things Anybody Ever Said. The result is a book that offers intelligent, useful,
and accurate advice to the long-suffering golfer. With As Koufax Said, the
authors produce an analogous treatment -- this time for a baseball audience. It
will include some of the best, most helpful, and most informative quotes for
players, coaches, and followers. There are many collections of quotations about
baseball, but none focus exclusively on how to best play the game. Each of its
8 sections will contain dozens of quotations, enough so that each teaching
point is covered by more than one distinctive voice. From Ruth to Yastrzemski,
from Hornsby and Winfield to Cobb and Seaver, many of the game's greatest are
here. The sections will present thoughts that will enlighten as well as
entertain, and for many readers, help them play better baseball as well. This text includes helpful and informative quotes for baseball players,
coaches and followers. Instruction comes from dozens of the best ever to play
baseball including Sandy Koufax, Greg Maddux, Ty Cobb, Lou Brock and Satchel
